GOOGLE KEYWORD PLANNER

This is a great tool, Google Keyword Planner allows you an insight into how often certain words are searched and how those searches have changed over time. This can help you narrow your keyword list down to the ones you really want. You can also search for words or phrases related to your products or services. The keyword research tool will help you find the keywords that are most relevant for your business. Once you’ve found the keywords you like, you can add them to your advertising plan. Save your plan for future reference or share with your team. A great one to have in your toolbox!

AHREFS

Ahrefs is a great free tool for you to use, it is great to check your backlinks and see in depth data on the links and referring domains. You can see a complete breakdown of all outbound links such as:

ANSWER THE PUBLIC

This website is not just good for SEO but any content your writing. It is ideal for creating new social media posts, podcast topics or blog articles. Simply head to Answer the Public type in a keyword and then it will bring up below you can see an example when we type in Website Design. As you can see it brings up loads of ideas for you to start creating content and what people are actively searching for!

ALEXA

A tool we have been using for years, Alexa gives us the opportunity to view free statistics for any website that gets good traffic. If the website gets 10 views a month you won’t get much valuable info from here but 500 a month, you will start to get good data from here.  If you want to see what your competitors keywords they are high ranking for, use this tool. This site also shows your bounce rate, the lower the better the higher… not so good!

SEO SITE CHECKUP

Another free tool but it will only allow you to show one domain per 24 hours! SEO Site Checkup will give you a percentage on how well your SEO is for your website and some tips of what you can do to improve your rankings. It gives you a good audit and what needs to be changed and revised!

CAN I RANK

A new one we have been using here at Nautilus Marketing but definitely one we will be using more often. This tool is great to show your competition and compare your stats to each other which will give you a good insight into what you are doing right and wrongly in terms of SEO. Can I rank has a great interface and is a nerds dream in terms of statistics! You can also view how many people are sharing your website on social media. The opportunity tab gives great information and tips from your website giving you a time frame of how long the changes will take – giving you real information that is personalised to your site!

UBERSUGGEST

We all know Neil Patel is the KING of SEO and this website is a gold mine! This is another free tool for you to utilise and add to the box. Ubersuggest gives you all the usual data you would normally get from the SEO websites BUT it showcases your top-ranking pages. *Secret tip* you can reverse engineer exactly what your competitors are doing from this tool and see how many visitors they are getting, you can then use this data to put together your SEO Strategy!

MOBILE MOXIE

Search Engine Ranking Page (SERP)  the reason you would use this tool is to see where you are ranking on Google for any specific keywords anywhere in the world! For example if we wanted to see where we are ranking for Website Design in Canada, we can use this tool to see where we are ranking without having to call people in that country to check for us. YOAST

Last but not least, a plugin, YOAST! There is a free and paid version, free is perfectly fine. It will show you how many characters are too much or too little when putting together your title tag, title description or title text. As you are doing this it will also mockup what it will look like on Google, which is fun… well for us nerds it is!
